4" Old Man Cactus

Old Man Cactus (Cephalocereus senilis)

Old Man Cactus is a quirky columnar cactus instantly recognizable by the long, white, hair-like fibers covering its green stem. That shaggy coating gives it its unmistakable old man appearance, while also helping protect the cactus from intense sun in its native habitat.

It's slow-growing and easy to care for, making it a fun addition to sunny windowsills and cactus collections. Just don't let the fluffy appearance fool you, there are sharp spines hiding underneath all that hair.

Care Tips:
☀️ Light: Bright light to full sun, several hours of direct sunlight is ideal
💧 Water: Allow soil to dry completely between waterings, water very sparingly during winter
🌫 Humidity: Prefers dry conditions and good airflow
❄️ Temperature: Thrives around 65 to 85°F, protect from frost
🐾 Pet Friendly: Yes, but hidden spines can cause injury
⭐ Rare: Yes

Fun Fact:
Those long white hairs aren't just for looks, they help protect the cactus from intense sunlight and temperature extremes. An Old Man Cactus can eventually grow more than 30 feet tall in its natural habitat, which is a whole lot of old man. 🌵👴
