4" Tree Cactus

Tree Cactus (Pereskia spp.)

Tree Cactus is an unusual member of the cactus family that looks nothing like the typical desert cactus. Instead of thick, leafless stems, it grows more like a woody shrub or small tree with true green leaves and thorny stems, making it a fun addition for anyone who likes plants that are a little different.

Give it plenty of bright light, good drainage, and allow the soil to dry somewhat between waterings. Unlike many traditional cacti, Tree Cactus appreciates more regular watering while actively growing.

Care Tips:
☀️ Light: Bright light with some direct sun
💧 Water: Allow the upper portion of the soil to dry between waterings, avoid keeping the roots soggy
🌫 Humidity: Average household humidity is fine
❄️ Temperature: Prefers warm conditions, protect from frost and cold drafts
🐾 Pet Friendly: Yes
⭐ Rare: Semi-Rare

Fun Fact:
Tree Cactus is basically the cactus family's weird cousin. Pereskia-type cacti retain true leaves, giving us a glimpse of what some of the ancestors of today's familiar leafless cacti may have looked like. 🌵🌿
