Baby Rubber Plant (Peperomia obtusifolia)
Baby Rubber Plant is a compact, easygoing houseplant with thick, glossy green leaves and a naturally full, bushy growth habit. Its sturdy, succulent-like foliage stores moisture, making it more forgiving if you occasionally forget to water.
Despite the name, it isn't actually related to the Rubber Plant (Ficus elastica). This little Peperomia stays much smaller and is a great choice for desks, shelves, windowsills, and other small spaces.
Care Tips:
☀️ Light: Medium to bright, indirect light
💧 Water: Allow the top 1 to 2 inches of soil to dry between waterings, avoid overwatering
🌫 Humidity: Average household humidity is usually sufficient
❄️ Temperature: Thrives around 65 to 80°F, protect from cold drafts
🐾 Pet Friendly: Yes
⭐ Rare: No
Fun Fact:
Those thick, fleshy leaves aren't just cute, they store water for the plant, which is why Baby Rubber Plants handle an occasional missed watering better than many tropical houseplants. 🌿💚
