Catnip (Nepeta cataria)

Catnip is a fragrant herb in the mint family that’s famous for the playful reaction it triggers in many cats. The soft green leaves contain a natural compound called nepetalactone, which can stimulate excitement, rolling, rubbing, and playful behavior in cats. When grown as a plant, catnip produces small heart-shaped leaves and delicate white flowers with purple speckles.

Easy to grow and aromatic, catnip can be enjoyed fresh, dried for toys, or simply as a fun plant for cats to interact with.
